Sunday 1 June 2014: Local time 11.18am
D-Day = Discharge Day.
Allan and Eric have been discharged from the hospital. From being patients they are now guests. Still the same room, but the intense medical attention is not needed any more. From now on it is up to them and the physio to ensure that their progress continues.
Eric is doing well and likes to take a walk right around the top section. He even met a Polish woman and her husband on the other side during his walk this morning. He was invited into their room but declined, rather focusing on his walking.
Allan is up and "running" too, but he needs a little more encouragement. Both have to put in the hard yards now and we are all becoming ruthless.
Yesterday, while waiting for Eric to get the final tweaking of his new dentures, I slipped outside and walked barefoot on the lawn. Heaven. We have been stuck inside far too long, and it was nice to feel the grass underneath. It is the carrot I am dangling in front of Eric and Allan's stick to ensure they work hard and make it down to the lobby and outside for walks.
Time will tell how soon that will be.
